Jazz Standards for Catie’s Ballet Class is a set of piano arrangements by Bruno Lawrence Raco for ballet training, drawn from jazz standards and the Great American Songbook.

The album is dedicated to Mrs. Catie Wells, who selected the repertoire and shaped the class structure. Bruno Raco arranged and performed the piano versions for the studio.

The recording follows a full ballet class, from warm-up at the barre to grand allegro, coda, and port de bras. Cole Porter, Gershwin, Ellington, Jobim, Irving Berlin, and Rodgers & Hart appear here as working class music: pliés, tendus, ronds de jambe, fondu, waltz combinations, turns, and jumps.

For teachers, students, and anyone who wants elegant, usable music in the studio.
